LAMILUX BIM product configurator wins German Innovation Award

Product configurator for skylights convinces jury twice over

Following on from the Architects' Darling, the new LAMILUX BIM and product configurator now wins the German Innovation Award as well – in two categories. In both the “Design Thinking” and “Excellence in Business to Business – Information Technologies | Industry Specific and Service Software” categories, the LAMILUX BIM and product configurator convinced the jury to declare it the “Winner”.

The construction industry is undergoing a digital transformation. In order to offer architects, planners and roofers maximum convenience when configuring skylights independently, LAMILUX has developed the digital product configurator. The new version has been offering more functions and digital access to a larger part of the LAMILUX product world in 2-D and 3-D since February 2021. With its innovative functions, the LAMILUX BIM and product configurator won over the high-calibre jury of independent, interdisciplinary experts from industry, science, institutions and finance.

Digital planning using configurator tool

This is where the LAMILUX BIM and product configurator excels: Users can automatically generate dimensional drawings and 3D PDF data sheets during configuration, in addition to a BIM model with three different levels of detail. The configurations can be saved and shared via links. BIM objects can be configured directly from the architectural programmes Revit, ArchiCAD or Allplan using plug-ins, placed in the building, and modified in these programmes via a guided dialogue. BIM is already significantly changing the construction industry of the future and LAMILUX is a pioneer in this field. But even apart from BIM, the configurator is of great benefit to all those who need product data with variant accuracy 24/7. “Customer benefit remains our driver. We are still a long way away from our digital goal. Instead, we want to go on the digital journey with our customers and develop new things together,” says Carsten Ficker, civil engineer and Head of BIM at LAMILUX.

The prize that makes innovation visible

The German Innovation Award honours cross-sector products and solutions that distinguish themselves primarily through user-centricity and added value compared to existing solutions. This is because: Innovations that shape the future and improve lives exist in all industries. Sometimes you see them at first glance – but often not. The German Innovation Award seeks to change that. It makes great achievements visible to a wide audience and ensures successful market positioning.
