Me, the church bells and God

Peace of mind from light

Calm and peace of mind: feelings that immediately win your heart. There’s a fresh but unmistakable smell filling your nose, though it’s not overpowering. It invites you to take a deep breath. You move more deliberately, your steps become more measured. But it doesn't feel like a burden. Quite the opposite in fact, it tastes like freedom. Freedom to let your thoughts wander, to say yes to every feeling, to put yourself right here and now.

There is a slight smell of wood, but there are no floorboards creaking under your feet. The church is painted in bright colours and looks modern but dignified. The rumble of passing cars disappears into the background, becoming a gentle noise more reminiscent of a river than the hustle and bustle of the streets.

It’s the end of October and the morning started off chilly, but there’s no trace of the cold left now. Soothing heat wraps its gentle arms around the building. When you enter you can’t help looking up towards the sunlight. It bathes the chancel in a graceful radiance. You come in expecting darkness, but what you find is an enticing oasis of light.
