One Open-air coffee, please!

A place to recover

Rattling cutlery, excited conversations, the trample of little feet and children constantly laughing. The air is filled with the smell of freshly brewed coffee and delicious food. The room is bathed in light. But are we talking about a normal room here? It has four walls and a ceiling, sure, but actually you’re in a kind of open courtyard. Before your view reaches the ceiling, it lingers upon the balconies that surround the viewer from all sides.

Above these you see a touch of blue sky, with fluffy white clouds sailing along. It feels like you’re not in a building at all. Dark café-style furniture surrounded by green bamboo plants tempt you to sit down, room separators made of natural materials create new smaller spaces in the atrium without limiting the feeling of openness. Modern upholstered sofas encourage cosy chats. The apartment doors on the balconies have been lovingly decorated. Everywhere feels full of life, you can sense it’s beating heart. The day may have started off cloudy and grey, but now the first rays of sunshine are fighting their way through the glass roof and flooding the courtyard with warm light. The atrium breathes, and the guests and residents breathe with it in this place of encounters

Conversations are getting started; for a moment there is silence while grace is said, only to be broken the next second as young voices burst out into chatter. Children who spend their afternoons off school in the childcare centre have gathered together for lunch. But they don't just eat together, they also swap ideas and talk about the experiences of the day. And once again the atrium is filled with piping voices mixed with laughter and the bright rays of the autumn sun.
