LAMILUX opens new production facility
Investment of around 25 million euros
With the ceremonial opening of its new site at the automotive supplier park in Hof-Gattendorf, Germany on Monday, 4 May 2026, the LAMILUX Group officially inaugurated a new production facility with modern manufacturing areas and an adjoining office building. With this investment, the family-owned company is further strengthening the Hochfranken region and creating additional capacity for future growth.
High-ranking guests at the new site
For the official opening ceremony, LAMILUX welcomed numerous officials from politics and public administration, including Dorothee Bär, Federal Minister for Research, Technology and Space in Germany, as well as representatives from regional politics and the Government of Upper Franconia. “LAMILUX impressively demonstrates how to build on a strong foundation while consistently investing in the future. This investment is creating jobs, strengthening regional value creation and offering new perspectives for many families in the region, while a Franconian traditional company successfully asserts itself in international competition,” said Dorothee Bär. District Administrator Oliver Bär also praised the company’s commitment, describing the project as “a truly encouraging project – driven by an encouraging company and an encouraging family”, demonstrating the importance of entrepreneurial commitment for the region.
The new site comprises a modern production building with an adjoining office complex. The former DGH Hof property has undergone extensive refurbishment in recent months and has been specifically prepared for use by LAMILUX. In total, the company is investing around 25 million euros in the new site.
Step-by-step expansion of the site network
The new facility will be used by the Skylights division and forms part of the ongoing development of the LAMILUX Group’s production network. Since 2025, selected departments have gradually been relocated from the Rehau site to Hof-Gattendorf. The commissioning of the new facility is taking place in stages, with further relocations planned throughout the year, enabling the use of the site to successively expand.
“This new facility is far more than just a building for us. It represents our confidence that through innovation and reliable quality, we can continue to grow successfully in the future. It is a place for the people who contribute their expertise here every day and thereby create the foundation for supporting our customers with strong solutions,” emphasised Dr Sophia Strunz, Managing Director and Shareholder of the LAMILUX Group.
Capacity for further growth
Currently, around 130 permanent employees work at the Hof-Gattendorf site. At full capacity, the facility offers space for up to 300 jobs, underlining the LAMILUX Group’s long-term growth strategy. Together with the existing production facilities, the new site represents an important building block for the continued development of the company in the Hochfranken region. Core functions and production activities for both business divisions will continue to remain at the company headquarters in Rehau.
“This project demonstrates that progress does not necessarily have to take place on greenfield sites, but can also result very consciously from investments in existing structures – particularly in rural areas, where industry, skilled trades and medium-sized businesses have been deeply rooted for generations,” explained Dr Alexander Strunz, Managing Director and Shareholder of the LAMILUX Group.
With the new facility, the LAMILUX Group is creating additional capacity for further growth, innovation and expansion in the years ahead, while also sending a clear signal of loyalty to the region, entrepreneurial responsibility and long-term security.
