Glass architecture for modern working environments
The LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60 forms the central architectural feature of the new office building. It combines contemporary design with outstanding functionality: the triple solar-control glazing with safety glass ensures a comfortable indoor climate, while the excellent thermal insulation and soundproofing create a calm, energy-efficient working atmosphere.

Functional design with finesse
Set against the picturesque backdrop of Canterbury, integrating the glass roof required great sensitivity, as the construction had to be installed on a precisely manufactured glulam timber substructure. This substructure was executed in a completely horizontal alignment, providing an exact basis for installation. To achieve the roof pitch essential for functionality and durability, LAMILUX developed the PR60 system with a 3° gradient. This was fulfilled through structurally staggered system legs, allowing the entire roof surface to appear visually flush with the timber frame while ensuring the necessary drainage.

Precision in Execution
The project team also faced challenges during implementation due to the complexity and size of the glass roof: the large-format glass panels – some square, others triangular – had to be installed into the PR60 system with great precision. Using a crane, the elements were lifted onto the substructure and positioned with exact accuracy. This required close cooperation between the construction company, crane operators and LAMILUX technicians. Only through detailed coordination and professional planning could exact alignment be guaranteed. The result is a glass roof which, despite its complex geometry, ensures long-lasting watertightness, stability, and a flawless appearance.

Light that inspires motivation
Natural light is a decisive factor for healthy and productive workspaces. Studies show that daylight improves concentration and performance, supports the biological rhythm, and enhances employee well-being. With the generous Glass Roof PR60, the Canterbury City Council benefits from a bright, open atmosphere that fosters motivation while also emphasising the sustainable orientation of modern office architecture.
