Daylight and climate comfort combined - for sustainable learning spaces

Natural lighting, controlled ventilation and high thermal insulation are key requirements for modern school buildings and sustainable design. The LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60 in the Schulzentrum Burgebrach meets precisely these requirements.

Sustainable architecture for all

The extension to the Schulzentrum Burgebrach has created a future-oriented place of learning for around 300 pupils. The new building complements the existing primary and secondary school and provides space for ten additional classes in the innovative learning house concept. In addition, a new canteen and kitchen area was built to cater for all year groups.
The construction project focused on a holistic sustainable concept: the new building meets the 40 EE efficiency house standard and considers a particularly economical use of space, using a retention roof for rainwater retention thus generating energy via a photovoltaic system.

The optimum glass roof for greater efficiency

A central element of the new building is the light-flooded learning centre with a large-area LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60 in a pent roof design. The 2.13 x 6.15 meter daylight element brings natural light from the roof to the second floor via an atrium and creates a bright, pleasant atmosphere. Six glass panels - including two ventilation panels - as well as triple thermal insulation and solar control glazing ensure energy efficiency, ventilation and heat protection.

Special features of the construction process

The integration of the new building into the ongoing school operations and the difficult subsoil conditions placed high demands on the planning and execution. Thanks to the close cooperation between Haase & Bey Architekten, the Rudolf Schmid company, the Burgebrach market building authority and LAMILUX, the project was nevertheless completed on time and to a high standard.

Reliable partner in the planning process

It was clear to the planners early on that LAMILUX was the right partner for implementing the daylight solution. The decisive factor was the high level of expertise in the field of glass architecture as well as the fast and reliable technical support. During the planning phase, LAMILUX impressed with detailed, practical design drawings. Cooperation with the contractor also ran smoothly during the execution phase - delivery deadlines were met and installation went according to plan.
