A new build connects old and new
A new build with a spacious atrium was created as a link between the listed building of Emanuel Lasker Secondary School and the extension to Modersohn Primary School. The atrium forms the heart of the building and serves as a central space for learning, interaction and time spent together. Its open design creates a friendly and inviting atmosphere within the school building.

Glass Roof effect created by Glass Skylights
A total of 18 LAMILUX Glass Skylights F100 were used to provide natural daylight to the atrium. The 1.5 x 1.5 metre elements create a total glass surface of 40.5 m². Their close arrangement produces a Glass Roof effect that defines the architectural character of the atrium and emphasises the open nature of the building.

Daylight for a pleasant learning environment
The large-scale glazing supplies the atrium with natural daylight and turns it into a welcoming centrepiece within the school building. The natural daylight creates a bright and inviting learning environment and contributes to a high quality of stay for pupils and teachers alike.

Energy efficiency for modern school buildings
During the planning phase, the LAMILUX Glass Skylights F100 impressed not only with their high daylight incidence, but also with their excellent thermal insulation properties. The energy-efficient and thermally bridge-free construction supports a pleasant indoor climate and contributes to a high-performance building envelope. In this way, the daylight solution combines natural daylight with comfort and energy efficiency.

Safety for modern educational buildings
In addition to a pleasant learning environment and high energy efficiency, aspects of preventive fire safety were also considered. Smoke and heat exhaust ventilation functions complement the building concept and contribute to safe school operation.
